Born in 1943, Franziska von
Vietinghoff-Riesch came to Sweden as a WWII refugee child in 1945. During
the following five years she was brought up by a Lutheran pastorĀ“s family,
then was reunited with her own family. She studied
at the University of Lund, Sweden and
later obtained an MSc in Psychology from the American University of Beirut.
Franziska`s professional years with UNICEF - the
United Nations ChildrenĀ“s Fund - spanned 20 years and saw her posted on all
continents During these years she passionately studied the cultures and
languages of the countries she lived in.
While posted in Moscow in the 1990s, Franziska
attended a Russian Orthodox icon painting academy. Painting icons,
"windows to heaven", allowed her to further mature spiritually. Franziska
has exhibited in Italy, Greece Belgium. Her icons hang in several churches.
